Train Scenery - Natural Material
Back wall is coarsely sifted decomposed granite from my property.
Another example of coarsely sifted decomposed granite.
And yet another example of coarsely sifted decomposed granite.
My friend, John, spent a day cutting marble slabs & blocks from his collection of real marble.
Retaining wall typical of our local old time mining operations using finely sifted decomposed granite.
Close up of retaining wall. Wall has a base of scrap matte board with glued on strips of balsa wood.
I use real dirt, sand & a mixture of both for "sand lots" and dirt roads.
I use Woodland Scenics Medium Ballast.
Glue is then applied between the strips and then the stones are sprinkled in.
<<< This is the same marble used to construct the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.
I use mixture of diluted (4 to 1) Elmer's Glue-All, water plus 3 drops of dishwasher fluid (aids penetration ).
1. Paint diluted glue on surface.
2. Sprinkle material.
3. Let dry.
4. Spray diluted glue.
Use an eyedropper & the glue mixture (see above).
